Her illustrations are the first thing people notice \u2013 and love \u2013 about the books. Christine also spellchecks the French text.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Kirsten Veldhoen<\/strong>\u2019s fierce defense of proper Dutch and <strong>Jannette Blom<\/strong>\u2019s tempered stance on the subject ensure that the Dutch books don\u2019t embarrass me.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Elodie Combes<\/strong>, former professor of plurilingualism at the University of Montreal, has introduced me through social media to scores of language enthusiasts \u2013 people who \u201cget\u201d the concept.<\/p>\n<p>And of course, <strong>Roc\u00edo Ramos de Muller<\/strong>. \u00a0Roc\u00edo has been a real shot in the arm. A teacher herself, she approached me to do a Spanish version, and since I don\u2019t speak Spanish, I declined \u2013 only to have her insist, and then do the interpretation herself. Roc\u00edo is also developing into an amazing salesperson \u2013 \u00a0the books were hardly off the press before they were on the shelves of the Toulouse Natural History Museum.<\/p>\n<p>My friend and linguist <strong>Javier Dominguez<\/strong>, also a teacher, assured me that Roc\u00edo had done a great job!<\/p>\n<p>Then there are the critters themselves. <strong>Betty<\/strong> was <em>chien de tete<\/em> for a musher before we adopted her. <strong>Cat<\/strong> just showed up in the barn seven years ago and has stayed (along with his brother <strong>Scaredy Cat<\/strong>, who remains feral). They\u2019ve been joined by <strong>Bill<\/strong>, a rescue beagle who\u2019s like a toddler with ADHD.<\/p>\n<p>And of course all our readers!<\/p>\n<p>I feel blessed.
